What’s Been Lying Dormant?

What’s Been Lying Dormant?

This blog post is coming out at the end of March, not because I forgot, but because I’ve been spending as much time as I can outside, soaking in the spring before the heat arrives. I’ve been immersed in the experience, gathering insights from the land and my soul before sitting down to formally write about them.

It's that time of year when the daffodils and crocus push their way through the soil out front, and this past week, buds formed on the lilac and black cherry trees. I can feel the energy building, everything coming back to life. It feels more like renewal than anything else. March feels like my new year. Spring doesn’t last long here before the heat takes over. So, I’ve been making the most of this time.

I’ve also been watching for bear tracks on the back trail, mindful that the bears are likely waking up from hibernation and possibly with new cubs! I’ve already seen some elk tracks and captured them on the game camera.

But it’s more than just the animals and plants coming alive. Each day, I am connecting more deeply with the spirit of the land, and that has been a wild ride. It’s shown me things about myself, insights into what’s been lying dormant within me, waiting for the right time to emerge. You see, Spring doesn’t wait. It moves forward whether you’re ready or not. I’m embracing that message and moving forward with what I’ve been holding off on.

Explore What’s Been Lying Dormant

If something matters, give it your attention now. Remember, you always have a choice to act or ignore the messages.

Here are some ways to begin:

  1. What’s Been Lying Dormant? Take some time to reflect on what you’ve been holding off on. What’s been waiting beneath the surface, ready to emerge? Write it down. Speak it aloud. Bring it into the light. What needs your attention right now before it slips away?
  1. Daily Walks with Intention: Walk with the intention of noticing what's changing around you. What’s blooming, emerging, or stirring? What feels different from the day before? What message can you find in this awareness?
  1. Reflect and Record: I use the “notes” feature on my phone to journal at the end of each walk before coming in. However sometimes, real insight, insight that comes in a moment like a flash... it’s from your soul and will be forgotten if not recorded. For that, I make an audio recording in the moment.

There are always messages from the land, but also from within. Everything is energy and connected in ways we cannot see. The land shows me something new every day, but so does that deeper part of myself, if I’m paying attention.

What’s waiting to emerge within you? I’d love to hear about it.
